This
event was again held at Kings Equestrian Centre, Bromyard which although is a
bit of a trek to get to, it is a lovely venue.
We
had 2 senior teams entered this year, and Jo Hughes kindly came up with the
names FFRC Rock Chicks and FFRC Soul Survivors.
A month prior to the event we had more than enough riders to fill 2 teams
but as the event drew closer the injuries appeared and by the last week before
the event we had used all the reserves and Sarah Witchell kindly lent me Maloney
so I could fill the last space! The
Rock Chicks consisted of Linda Lovell and Lakestreet Crunchie, Jane Carpenter
& Lord Taurus, Jo Hughes & Scarecros and Sarah Watkins & Diamond
Clover Lad. The Soul Survivors
consisted of Sarah Massey & Gateway Robin, Rachel Bennett & Lady’s
Challenge, Jo Knapman & Danes Court and Kelly Clack & Cloughbrack
Dreamer.
The
day started early for me, I had to pick Maloney up from Sarah Witchell’s at
9.30am, she had him all clean, plaited and ready to go!!
Then we met up at Hollow Farm with Jo Hughes and Linda Lovell, so the
road train began! Then just outside
Gloucester Sarah Massey joined us, then shortly followed by Jo Knapman who
tagged on the end in Maisemore, I do feel sorry for all the cars that had to
follow us, but TOUGH!!
We
all arrived at pretty much the same time, Jane Carpenter had just arrived before
us and Sarah Watkins arrived within minutes of us – we had landed!
We
all went over and walked the course together, I don’t think they could have
put any more scary fillers in that course! We
had everything from optical illusions, chest pieces, dice and liquorice
allsorts!!!
The
first of our teams to jump were the Rock Chicks with Linda Lovell who flew round
the course clear without batting an eyelid at the fillers, next up was Jane
Carpenter who again jumped a lovely clear round, then we had Jo Hughes who also
jumped a lovely clear round and lastly was Sarah Watkins who also jumped a
lovely clear round, our first team to jump were on a score of 0 after the first
round!!
First
up in the Soul Survivors was Sarah Massey who had an unfortunate pole down, next
was Rachel Bennett who again rolled a pole and got 4 faults, then Jo Knapman
went in and jumped a lovely clear round, finally I went in and had a pole down,
so our team finished the first round on a score of 8 faults which meant we were
still very much in the competition!
As
soon as our second team had jumped the first round Amanda Blewett and Harry
Valander got the bacon and sausages on and we started our picnic, everyone
brought something to put towards the picnic and we probably had enough food to
feed and army, but then with all our supporters we very nearly had an army there
to feed, there must have been 20 of us!!! I
wasn’t sure how Maloney was going to cope with carrying me after eating all
that!
It
was then time for the Rock Chicks to tack up ready for the second round, which
they had turned the fillers round to give us new scary things to jump – from
ducks to dice!
Linda
went in first and broke land speed records and a clear to finish on a score of 0
and got individual 2nd! Next up was
Jane Carpenter who unfortunately had the first two jumps down but then got in to
a lovely rhythm and cleared the rest of the course, so Jane finished on a score
of 8 faults, next in was Jo Hughes who was jumping a fab round and then just
rolled the 2nd from last and had the pole down, so she finished on a
score of 4 faults, then finally was Sarah Watkins who again jumped a lovely
clear round finishing on an overall score of 0 and got 9th
Individual!!! That left the Rock
Chicks on a final score of 4 faults and 3rd place!!
Next
up was Sarah Massey for the Soul Survivors, who jumped a lovely clear to finish
on a score of 4 faults, then next in was Rachel Bennett, Lady’s Challenge had
got quite excited at this point and decided she too wanted to break land speed
records but unfortunately started flattening and had 16 faults, finishing them
on a score of 20. Lastly it was
myself and Maloney, I was loving riding Maloney and he was jumping like a
trooper, he was doing everything I asked which is never a good thing!
He even jumped the wrong fence when I asked him too L
Sarah never told me Maloney doesn’t know how to count and that 7 does
not come after 4!! Unfortunately
even with the crowd pretty much shouting ‘NO!’ I still managed to jump the
wrong jump and get eliminated L
So that left our team on a score of 32 faults which put us in 16th
place.
When
all the results came out there were only 2 teams that finished on a score of 0
and FFRC Rock Chicks although finishing on 4 faults in 3rd were by
far the fastest team of the day, closely followed by the Soul Survivors who were
the second fastest team of the day!!! Watch
out area 18 FFRC have the speed demons!!!!
All
in all a great day was had by everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I would
like to thank Amanda Blewett and Harry Valender for their excellent cooking
skills, Mr Knapman and Sally Watkins for all the photos and to all the
supporters who took time out to come and watch, support and make it a fun day
for all.

##
The
Autumn Hunter Trial took place on 9th October at Richard Chapmans –
Manor Farm. The day began with
bright sunshine – always a good start! A bit of chaos ensued as people were
sent off to their allotted jobs for the day then after a short delay we were
off! Fences 3 and 4 on the 2’6 course seemed to be the ‘bogey’ jumps
despite looking very straightforward with quite a few stops and a couple of
unplanned dismounts… The new corn on the cob and carrot jumps (very
colourful!) jumped really well despite looking a little strange! The water jump
proved easy for everyone, with no swimming taking place. Penny Fernyhough
provided her usual high standard of commentary which was informative and quite
funny! All in all - a good day with no major mishaps, huge thank you to all the
helpers who make the event possible and to Richard Chapman for the use of the
course. Also to Rachel Harber for organising it and to Amanda Blewett for
sorting out the team of helpers.

MEMBERS’ NEWS
Kelly Clack has won Cheltenham Riding Clubs “Rider of the Year” for qualifying for the 2011 National Championships in the Intermediate Show Jumping with Winton (Spot) and for the Dressage Championships with the Cheltenham team on Tornado. Kelly has now left Cheltenham & re-joined FFRC, she is on the committee and is Joint Senior Team Manager with Sally Miles. This bodes well for our team events in the 2011/2012 season!
SENIOR
REPORT FOR - LINCOLN BRC CHAMPIONSHIPS, 17TH SEPTEMBER 2011
Having
qualified in May and June, September seemed a long way off but our senior style
jumper and Double D’s (dressage divas) team have practiced their little socks
off. On Friday the 16th September,
Sam and Julia Hall and Sarah Witchell, Fiona Porter (style jumper) and Caroline
Savory with Linda Lovell our helper, set off in convoy for Lincoln.
Erica Shipley blagged a lift with the opposition (but now returned to the
fold), Kelly Clack who had qualified for Cheltenham RC with her two spotty boys!
Lincoln
is a VERY long way, made even worse by the last 25 miles.
Just when you think you’ll be there in half an hour, there are major,
major road works, so that last 25 miles on a Friday take about an hour and a
half! By the time I arrived,
frazzled at 7pm (I left at 3pm!) the FFRC camp was set up, two lorries, a gazebo
and a tent. Erica joined us from
Kelly’s lorry and had Amanda Blewett with her, who had come up to support.
We had a very civilized evening with food supplied by Sarah Witchell in
the form of Chile con Carne and some excellent ‘millionaire’s shortbread’
made by Linda which was to die for! It
was also Julia’s 18th birthday, which I enjoyed, celebrating very
much! And there was BIRTHDAY CAKE!
Even the weather stayed more or less dry.
We decamped to our various beds and for once, apart from Erica, we had
afternoon times, so didn’t have to be up at the crack of dawn.
The
next morning started out fine and breezy as we all stirred.
Sam emerged from her nest with a slightly green face (sick with nerves)
and a big red scratch right down one side of her nose!
Her dog had decided to join Sam for a pee in the night and as he was
being handed down, did some open air swimming!
I must say, Iike this supporting rather than riding role!
No nerves at all for me!
Erica
was on at 9.30 in the Riding Test, we were all there to watch, including said
dog, who pee’d on my leg! Hmmm.
Going off terriers! I was
armed with my camera but there was a BRC Gestapo lady refusing to let anyone
walk along a very well placed fence that ran parallel to the arenas, for photo
opportunities. Ridiculous when some
people had come all the way from Cornwall, Wales and Scotland and couldn’t
take a picture of their horse!
The
afternoon had each of the DD’s going at about 20 minute intervals.
The annoying thing was that Sam was on in her arena at exactly the same
time as Fiona Porter was style jumping. The
dressage is about half a mile from the jumping arenas so we had no chance of
watching both. Linda and Amanda went
to watch Fiona, so she was totally abandoned!
The DD’s all performed
beautifully, mostly in dry weather. There
were massive black clouds whizzing over all afternoon, dropping heavy storms at
random intervals. Everyone got wet
at some point but they all did their actual tests in the dry.
We met up with Fiona in the warm up arena and everyone had beaming faces,
so whatever the results, it had been a much enjoyed experience.
After
the team photo, horses were put away and we hike another mile to the score
boards. It’s like a rugby scrum
when the steward writes in the percentages!
To our delight, as the scores went up, we realised we had done rather
well! Erica 13th in her
arena, Sarah 10th in hers, Caroline 4th in hers and crème
de la crème Sam had come and amazing 2nd in hers!
If Landy hadn’t swung her bottom right in her final halt, she would
have won! But hey, there’s always
ifs! (I blame the pilot) . With those excellent individual results, the team was
placed 5th. An absolute
phenomenal result for the seniors.
So
well done girls, you’re proper double d’s now!
And well done to Fiona Porter who jumped round a meaty Style show jumping
course, unplaced this time, but still did a tidy pleasing round and coped with
probably the busiest venue Unity’s ever seen!
And
finally, thank you to Linda Lovell and Julia Hall who each worked hours for
Frampton seniors, we couldn’t have competed without you!

JUNIOR
REPORT – LINCOLN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011
Lincoln
and the juniors (and the lorry).
Well as
you may be aware Leah Glover and Malcolm, Julia Hall and Tuppence, Bea Burnham
and Pea and Victoria Withers and Aero all qualified to compete at the National
Championships in Lincoln in September in the dressage and the riding test. The
dressage consisted of Leah and Julia doing Prelim 12 and Bea and Victoria doing
Novice 24.
Sadly
poor Bea’s pony Pea sustained an injury in the trailer about a week before the
competition. We decided to wait a few days before calling in the cavalry but
sadly Pea was not going to be well enough in time so on the Monday before the
competition on the Sunday Ellie Merrett bravely said she would compete on Socks,
even with knowing she would have to do the Novice test!
Well
never mind the frantic dressage lessons Ellie had to endure that week, but spare
a thought for poor Mr. Merrett who now had had ensure the new lorry he had on
order was going to be ready for the weekend.
Sure
enough Saturday afternoon (about 2.30) saw the arrival of the Mobile Merrett
Mansion, a lovely gleaming blue brand spanking new lorry big enough to house a
small continent!
Poor
David who thought his job was done then had to drive the thing to Lincoln and
what’s more endure three and a half hours of the Glovers who managed to cadge
a lift!
We
arrived about 7 pain management Saturday night and managed to park with Sam Hall
(who had taken Sarah Witchell who was competing for the seniors on Saturday and
then dressage writing for the Juniors on Sunday) and Sally Withers who had very
kindly brought Julia’s horse with her.
Ponies
unloaded and checked into their rooms all happy with water and hay nets and then
a mammoth task of working out how to use the Mobile Mansion’s kitchen
implements to master Spaghetti Bolognese. Fortunately Sam’s and Sally’s
lorry’s catering facilities were operational (and eventually so were the
Merretts after Sally had shown them how to turn the cooker on!).

The
Glovers, feeling that perhaps the Merrett’s might like the mansion to
themselves for the night set about pitching their tent, which almost fitted in
quite nicely underneath the pop out of the lorry. A
few gin and tonics later (adults only of course) we all retired to bed, the
Glovers wistfully gazing at the double beds in the lorry from their little tent.
The day
of the competition – a beautiful day despite the forecast of rain, rain and
more rain. The girls all rode beautifully and were an absolute credit to the
club and to Kathy Oliver who has taught them all. To be honest I think they all
should have won their arenas but it wasn’t our time this time. Julia came
third in hers and Victoria sixth in hers with Leah and Ellie both coming just
outside the rosettes. Overall the team came 13th in both the dressage
and the riding test.
A super
day I think was had by all and the team spirit and support for each other was
second to none. All our ladies are winners as far as I’m concerned.
Thanks
to the club for the financial funding for this event and also many thanks to
Ellie Merrett for stepping in at the last minute.
On a
personal note, my thanks to Dave Merrett for rushing through the delivery of the
lorry and also for the driving of it, there and back and for letting the Glovers
and Malcolm tag along.
Also
many thanks to Kathy Oliver for her support and tireless enthusiasm for training
the ladies.

July 2011
We
held a very successful Members Only Show Jumping Day on the 10th July
at Frampton.
18
members attended, 15 having lessons in the morning with either Debbie Hill or
Alistair Bull then most, with a few additional attendees, took part in the
competition in the afternoon, either 2'3”, 2'6” and/or 2'9” classes.
We
had several new members attend, and also those with new/baby horses. Congrats go
to Helen Merrett and Dana Perry for their achievements, these two were very
nervous on new horses but their horses behaved impeccably and both showed huge
improvement/increased confidence as their lesson went on.

|
New
member Lucy Wilkes was jumping her loan horse Flinty for the first time &
did very well in the 2'6” lesson, Flinty showing he knew exactly what he was
doing, whilst another new member Becs Wilkinson and Finn, after a bit of a nose
dive, did really well in the 2'6”/2'9” lesson.
The
afternoon competition results were as follows:

JUNIOR AREA HORSE TRIALS –
SWALCLIFFE 24TH JUNE
SENIOR AREA HORSE TRIALS – SWALCLIFFE
24TH JUNE
The trouble with not hosting an Area event, we are having to travel this
year! The Horse Trials qualifier was
at Swalcliffe, which is just this side of Banbury and this event is such a
monster to run that each Club with a team has to send two helpers.
Frampton members came up trumps with Barbara Davis, Penny Ferneyhough,
Amanda Blewett and Charlotte Ashmead each doing a whole day there on our behalf.
Seniors were a bit thin on the ground this year, we started with three
individual novices and two individual intermediates but as the event approached
two of the novices had to withdraw and it left just me with Sid doing the novice
and Gabrielle Withers and Holly Bevan doing the intermediate.
Gabby and Holly faired much better! Their
course was a full up, very hilly and technical one, but both our girls flew it,
Gabby riding Take a Rein Check (Millie) and Holly riding Dubrovnic (Nik) ended
up in 5th and 7th place respectively!
This was particularly sweet for Gabby as this was her first event this
year! Holly had a night mare as she
was without transport at the last minute so had to cadge a lift there from
junior rider Lily’s mum Sarah Witchell and home with Sally and Gabby Withers!
It was another long day, made longer for me because my navigational
skills are not what they were and I went wrong BOTH ways.
Our juniors were competing on the same day which I love, their mums take
plenty of food and pimms and it’s so nice to see so many familiar faces.
They did really well too, made the course which I thought was really
difficult for a novice, look easy! In
fact they did so well that one FFRC junior rider has qualified for the
Championships in August! A full report will follow for next month!

FESTIVAL OF THE HORSE EVENTERS’ CHALLENGE
CHAMPIONSHIPS – 4th June Aston le Walls
After the excitement of coming second in the qualifier I went on a
mission to get the team matching kit for the championships. Saddle cloths, tops
and hat covers with FFRC in gold either ironed or stensiled on!
Managed to do all that but when we got our times we were so spread out
that we weren’t all dressed up at the same time!
The show jumping course was very confusing at first sight, due to there
being 3 sets of numbers and each spread fence having a single rail alternative
at right angles to it. Eventually we
realised that 2 of the number sets were for the pairs competition, because one
pair jumps the first 6 fences and the second pair jumps the second 6!
This course has quite a tight optimum time and is also timed in the event
of a tie, so the single rail options for the spreads were quite time wasting.
You entered the arena at the top end, did your show jump round then left
at the bottom end straight to the first fence of the XC.
The Cross country course was pretty meaty, including steps, skinnies,
cottages, a corner and water, but very flowing.
Personally I was bricking it but was first to go out of our team and very
glad to know that I would be finished in time to sit back and watch the others!
My little princess looked after me and jumped a neat clear show jump
round although she was not happy going out a different end!
She took me round the XC like a star with a clear, just clocking up 8.8
time faults. Next up was Charlotte
Ashmead on her young horse Eternity. Charlotte
has to take him carefully show jumping so he doesn’t get careless and they
jumped a clear with some time faults and went like a rocket XC to jump clear and
gain a couple of speeding time faults! So
Charlotte ended up with 8.4 faults across the 2 phases.
Fiona Porter and Unity were next, they did a quick round show jumping but
unfortunately had a couple down, then stormed the XC with only 5.4 time so
finishing on 13.4 which left Paula Newman and Bailey under a bit of pressure,
but what ever happened we had a very good 3 to count score!
Paula and Bailey clipped one show jumping and went very fast and clear
XC, gaining 4 speedy time faults, so finishing on a total of 8 faults.
Having
left home at 7.30am it was a long, long wait for the results, which finally came
out at 5p.m. We were told that we
had finished in 9th place and could collect our rosettes from the
lorry park secretary, who then told us we could go home as there was nothing
else due, so we unplaited, loaded up and left, chuffed to bits with out 9th
place ribbons. It wasn’t until two
days later that I checked the results on line and saw that we had won the
‘Best team of 4 scores to count’ and should have received a silver salver.

How annoying was that! BRC
were happy to post the trophy but we had missed a photo opportunity!
Or had we? We decided to
meet, dress up in the full kit, with plaited horses and do a photo with the
trophy! Hopefully it will be in the
Riders magazine, it made the Dursley Gazette after all!
Well done to us all, it was a great day.
Left
to Right, Fiona Porter on Unity, Paula Newman on Bailey,
Sally
Miles on Spice and Charlotte Ashmead on Eternity.

STOCKLAND LOVELL June 2011
A novelty addition this year were the ‘Whoops!’
rosettes – awarded for unplanned dismounts. A few were handed out – even to
one of the instructors who got on to show someone how (not) to do it!! Rachel
– your secret is safe with us… Not!
Saturday night began with Musical Hats – yes, we
all put on various different hats and spent a while prancing around and ripping
out each others hair desperately trying to be the last one still wearing one!!!
Congratulations to the winner Joanna Murray. Then we held an auction to raise
funds to help a relation of Heather’s who suffers from a metabolic imbalance
and needs a new wheelchair. Huge thanks to everyone who donated items and who
bought them – over £400 was raised.
Sunday night brought the ‘FFRC’s Got Talent’
show…. As usual, the funniest couple of hours of the whole weekend. This year
it was nice to see lots of us getting involved and taking part – even some new
faces which was fantastic. The evening kicked off with Barb and Jo H with a
hilarious take on Morecombe and Wise making breakfast to the stripper tune, we
all cringed as Barb sliced grapefruits in half with one swoop of a meat
cleaver…!!! And if you ever fancy an omelette – don’t get Jo to make
it….! Next was The Black and White Minstrels, their costumes and make up were
so good I have no idea who most of them were! The routine was slick and I’m
sure a spot on the real Britains Got Talent would be possible. Next Ffion, Linda
and Penny with their version of Madness’s Knicker Thief – don’t leave your
smalls around that lot! Then it was Heather and Chris alias David Bowie and a
dodgy looking knome/Smurf lookalike! We were all in hysterics by now… Next it
was time for Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Dragon and Pussycat – me, Jess, Chick, Ali
and Jo C (complete with plastered wrist!!) we didn’t have much time to
practise and it showed! But made it all the funnier… Then Jo H donned the
tightest leopardskin leggings (complete with fake sausage snake!) and did a
really good impression of Rod Stewart! Last and by no means least – Barb gave
us a collection of all her acts in the past – which when it got to Madonna she
got a bit over excited and a bit more flesh was on show than she planned!!! Will
say no more….. Somewhere in the middle of all this chaos Linda Lovell stood up
and filled in a gap between acts with a hilarious Pam Eyres poem about Bruce
Springsteen – one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard… we were all
crying with laughter.
Only one major drama of the weekend (no not my
horse losing a shoe – again…) Jo C and Ralph had a mishap on the way back
from their xc lesson on Sunday…. They parted company and poor Jo ended up in
an ambulance on the way to A&E with a dishy paramedic - and
Heather in hot pursuit…. 95mph was mentioned but no speeding tickets received
thank god… Jo came back several hours later sporting a fetching plaster cast
on her wrist… Get well soon!
Big thanks has to go to Shirley and co for
providing us with lots of tasty food as usual and cake which was impossible to
refuse… Also to Isabel Harker from Spillers who brought along a portable
weighbridge which my horse Bailey tested to the maximum – weighing in at a
massive 773kg!!! Everyone had the chance to have their horses weighed free of
charge – an eye opening experience…! Thanks to Cat Ballam for the wonderful
Bengali massages which put many aching muscles right on the last day and last
but by no means least – the amazingly talented Fiona Crawford who spent 2 days
with us ensuring we all came away with some fantastic photographic evidence of
our achievements!
All in all, a fantastic time was had by all. We all
laughed, drank and chatted our way through the whole holiday. Everyone - from
the competitive riders to the happy hackers and between, agreed there is much to
be gained from the weekend no matter what your goals are. It’s even nice just
to spend a few guilt free days with your best 4 legged friend and your daft 2
legged ones! Huge HUGE thanks to Heather Llewellyn for organising the holiday
and keeping us all in line, no mean feat!!!
Davinia - catching up with the girls I don’t see from one year to the next and
having the time to spend with a horse guilt free oh and realising I can remember
how to jump, cant wait to do more.
Paula – Jumping 6ft over a 6 inch ditch and surviving J Great company, everyone got on really well and had great fun.
Heather – Keeping up with the ambulance taking Jo to hospital in her
car!
Ffion – Mr Ed (alias the Racing Snake) was a pleasure to have at camp,
having only been saddled up for the first time 8 weeks before and never having
been out anywhere.
Terri Sweet – My lasting memory from camp is of spending time with such
a fantastic group of ladies. Thank you all for allowing me to come along!
Chris Massey – Finally, I enjoyed jumping! Well maybe not one
particular jump!

Nicky
Barb - where do I start best bits finally achieved my goal to bury my
Gremlins and have a go at x/c what a fab time I had made even better when some
horses refused a few jumps and my boy Charlie sailed straight over them on the
Sunday morning much thanks needs to go to Rachel and Jo for the damn words of
encouragement or "you can do it gather up those bloody reins" will be
set in stone when I leave this world not yet though still more jumping to do.
Really enjoyed the s/j jumped higher than I ever have shame I got a
"woops" Richards fault told him it was too high! Finally the hat comp
what a laugh where does Heather get all these crazy ideas from. Which leads me
to my favourite the Karaoke great fun and a little embarrassment to show more of
me than I intended but after watching the video I got the most laughs on the
laughometer if you have no fake boobies because you forgot to make conical
ones use your own cant wait for next year have my karaoke sorted out already.
Barb xx You have the pics to prove it
Anne Brackley – I
find it almost impossible to isolate a 'single best' from the list below, but if
pushed it would have to be the last one of course!

AREA SHOW JUMPING AND STYLE JUMPING QUALIFIER – 29th May, Malvern
It’s four years since I last competed in the Area show jumping and now I remember why I try not to! This is a VERY long day, the novice team had their first round at 11.15 and their second round at 3.15! This was interspersed with a round of style jumping at 1.00. The intermediate team didn’t have quite such a long day as there were fewer in their class, but they still started at 10.30 and didn’t finish till 3.00! But what makes this all worthwhile is the company and the beautiful venue at the base of the Malvern Hills, even if the ground was like concrete.
Our Intermediate team of Holly Bragg on Celtic Pearl, Sheenagh Bragg on Lakestreet Nicole, Holly Bevan on Dubrovnik and Paula Newman on Crown Imperial. The second round was MASSIVE with a water tray and Frampton Team after two rounds, finished on a score of 4 faults. Only Sheenagh had to jump off for an individual place being the only one to achieve a double clear. The jump off course was very big and twisty but Sheenagh jumped clear and finished 4th individually while the team were placed 3rd!
The novice ring was filled with horrible colourful spooky Jump for Joy fences, with 13 obstacles to tackle, right next to the road with half marathon runners straggling along it, under trees! Team Waffles didn’t have the best of first rounds as Sarah’s Maloney took exception to the LAST fence, a wiggly set of planks with musical notes painted on the white back ground, so he stopped and very gently Sarah slid, slowly off his shoulder and although she was fine, in show jumping that’s it! You have to leave the ring. This meant that Sarah Donnelly, Fiona and myself had to get round. For Sarah Don, this was her first pressured show jumping competition! Bless them, they got round with a couple of not quite run outs, but more run pasts and a pole down, while Fiona and I jumped clear. We had a score! So were able to do round 2.
Back at base camp, Sarah Witchell had brought food so a quick picnic and ‘style jumping’ tactics were sorted. We were joined by Paula and Holly Bevan who were also doing the style as individuals and Frampton Fruitcakes went in one after another, looking beautiful! Sarah Don did a bit of break dancing in one of the corners as Craig slipped and had two steering issues and so she sadly was out as they count them as run outs, but everyone else jumped clear with the team finishing 5th and Fiona Porter being the prettiest coming 3rd individually.
Then came round two of the novice, which had been changed and raised considerably. Sarah Don was practising steering into the practise jump but misjudged it completely making it impossible for Craig to jump so was ejected onto the fence! But this seemed to knock some sense into her and although I was very worried that it was a bit much for her, she and Craig did a lovely round with only one run past and a pole down. Sarah Witchell faced her demons at the wavy music clad planks, where Maloney stopped again, but she stayed in place, got him over it and completed her round. Fiona and I both had one down, although I think mine was unlucky as she touched it, it didn’t fall then a gust of wind took it to the front side of the jump!
Although we didn’t get placed, some personal achievements made it all worth while.
Well done to everyone, and those on foot, Mel Glover, Sue Bragg and Sally Bevan. Thank you to Paula who I pushed into doing the intermediate to make up a team of four even though she would have preferred novice and well done to Sarah Don for doing all the jumps in the right order over what is probably the most spooky and complicated course they have done and well done to Sarah Witchell for getting Maloney over the planks! Next time I think we should take lippy and all share – Sheenagh had the most luscious sugar pink lips ALL day! The colour was so lush, I could have kissed her myself!!!!!

AREA FESTIVAL OF THE HUNTER at Swacliffe
Junior report
The eventers challenge qualifier was something very new to the team and me, we all went there not quite knowing what to expect. Everyone arrived bright and early to walk the course, we all headed off together and us juniors strided on ahead of the seniors. Once all back at the lorries having walked the course we thought it would be a good idea to find out the format of the event and what we had to do, so while I found spare socks and the team members tacked up our parents found out all the information.
All the juniors mounted their horses and headed over to the warm up arena, whilst warming up, team tactics were passed through the team, and we all tried to maintain a cool head for the showjumping so we could then kick on and enjoy the cross country. All the team members did their very best and performed really well, although Tuppence decided cantering through show jump fences involved less effort than actually jumping over them, but she loved the cross country giving me a real buzz to start off the eventing season.
At the end of the competing we all saw to our horses and kit, then hit the burger van and did a spot of shopping. The team came 3rd and got some lovely yellow rosettes! After going into this eventers challege not knowing what to expect, I can say it was a lovely day and very enjoyable, I would definatly go again!
Julia Hall
Senior report
I have only heard of the Eventers’ Challenge, never actually competed in one and having done this competition am now quite hooked! It’s like eventing without the dressage! Frampton Seniors had seven members wanting to have a go, me being one of them and so to give us our best chance decided to bite the bullet and take both my horses so that both teams had 4 members riding. Unfortunately, Nicki Davies had a double whammy, her horse going lame and then slicing a tendon in her wrist, making her unable to go so we were down to one team of 4 and one of 3.
Swalcliffe is miles away, our poor juniors were on at 9.00 so were leaving home half way through the night! But luckily seniors had requested late times and were put on right at the end of the competition, which also brought it’s problems as I only had 10 minutes between rides! But the organisers sorted it so I had 20 minutes!
Team cup cakes were first on, with me and Spice setting the pace. The show jumping is timed and the XC is optimum time, the show jump time only being relevant in the event of a tie. Spice was lush, she jumped quickly and clear and stormed the XC, I was followed by Charlotte Ashmead a new member to FFRC but with a good track record on BE, and her 6 year old ET, Charlotte also jumped clear and zipped round the XC like a true pro, one of the few inside the time! Next was Fiona Porter and Unity who just had one show jump down but clear XC and bringing up the rear (no pressure) was Paula Newman and Bailey who pinged the show jumps clear and did a fast clear XC. This put the cup cakes on a zero score, so times would be important.
Frampton Jammy Dodgers were down to three, one was my Sid, who had caused havock back at my lorry when I took Spice away to compete. It took Fran, Julia, Lily, Sam and Gail to try and keep his feet on the ground and by the time I got on him he (and they) was somewhat cheesed off! He showed me just how high he can get his front feet by doing several spectacular rears in the warm up, but when it came to jumping, he managed to smack a show jump down and had a stop at the smallest log on the course, he was always going to be the weakest link! It was a shame as he scuppered the chances of the Dodgers. Sarah Witchell riding Maloney jumped clear show jumping and XC and Caroline Savory on Pepper also did a lovely clean show jumping round and clear XC.
When the results came out, Frampton Cupcakes were 2nd! And Charlotte and myself were individual 5th and 6th respectively, my 6th was lucky because my show jumping was a tad faster than another rider who was on the same score as me! These results were brilliant as there were 19 teams competing, some 76 riders!
Sarah Witchell and Fiona Porter did the pairs competition, where one rider waits between two poles on the ground while the other jumps half the show jumps, then a whip is swapped and the other rider jumps the second half. Then both go through to the XC and off they go. Sarah and Maloney jumped clear while Fiona and Unity had one show jump down, but they came 6th and had fantastic fun, both claiming not to be competitive but going for it big time!
It was a brilliant day, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the icing on the cup cakes was that we qualified and are off to Championships at Aston le Walls on June 4th!

SPRING OPEN HUNTER TRIALS @ MANOR FARM
We ran our first open event of the year on Sunday 17th April, The Open Spring Hunter Trial, at Richard Chapman’s Manor Farm, Longney.
In the run up to the event entries were looking a bit light but thanks to other hunter trials being cancelled due to hard ground and low entries we managed to take a good number of late entries which resulted in pretty much all classes being well subscribed. We even had 4 competitors from Cheshire!
Richard Chapman had put a lot of work into the cross country course over the winter, particularly to the surfaces around the jumps and also the tracks between the jumps. This resulted in good going over most of the course, which was appreciated by a large number of competitors.
The event ran pretty much to time with only a couple of minor incidents, the water causing a few problems. The knock down in the time section was replaced this year with a more twisty start to the time section including a corner fence to test the skill of the rider at speed.
As usual our members did a brilliant job both volunteering in good time and doing their jobs efficiently with a smile on the day! Thanks in particular to Sally and Holly Bevan and Sally Withers for the fantastic food and Amanda Blewett and Penny Fernyhough who assisted me in the run up to the event to ensure we were as prepared as possible.

Riding Club Junior National Dressage Championships – Hartpury 2011
Well – what a build up to the event….
Our junior team was made up of Julia Hall and Lakestreet Tuppence (Tuppence), Lily Witchell and Spot On (Apache), Fran Pearce and Brendonhill Fiction (Brendon), and last but by no means least Victoria Withers on Aerostar (Aero).
I found out from Kathy Oliver when Leah went for a lesson Saturday 2nd April, (bearing in mind that the championships was the very next day), that Fran had been for a lesson with Kathy that morning and Brendon was lame and was on his way to the vets, very likely to be unable to compete the next day. Now – for those of you who are aware of my current status with lame horses I am very pleased to say that I was nowhere near Brendon that morning so his lameness at least could not be blamed on me! Mad panic phone call to Kate Merrett (actual team manager!) “eeek , what shall we do?” “No problem “ says Kate “work down the list of reserves”. So, off we go, duly tasked with finding a reserve, the first two of which we tried were not free as they had decided to go to Howick to do a BE event!
In the meantime we find out Brendon will definitely not be competing at the Championships, that the vet couldn’t really find anything fundamentally wrong and was hopeful that a day or two off would resolve the lameness.
Kate very kindly offers Fran the opportunity to ride Cloughbrack Dreamer (Maloney) – Fran jumps at the chance, not wanting to miss out putting to the test those hours of lessons with Kathy. However, assistant team manager (me) can not find exactly where in the rule book it says Fran can ride Maloney! Panic phone call to Karen Carter (previous team manager) who very kindly gave me our area liaisons number. Panic phone call to her who says “I’m shopping in Bristol and I haven’t got my rule book on me – drive to Hartpury to ask BRC rep who is there with showjumping champs” . Drive to Hartpury???? – have you seen the price of fuel!!
Anyway, to cut a very long story short I manage to find a phone number and establish that Maloney very fortunately had been put down as a reserve by the Very Clever and Astute Danny Taylor and that Fran could indeed ride him at the Champs. More lessons with Kathy for Fran and now Maloney on Saturday afternoon.
So – having resolved crisis number one Sam Hall now texts me and the rest of the world… “Julia and I hacking out and Julia’s horse has been attacked by a dog; Tuppence has reared up, gone over backwards, lost Julia and has tanked off towards the main road”. O.M.G. – what next…. Julia has hurt her arm, Sam’s turned the whole of Frocester’s air blue yelling at said dog owner, actually not surprisingly as this dog had attacked Sam’s horse about three weeks ago!. Tuppence was caught and despite the very frightening attack had only a slight nick and had remained in one piece.
So Saturday’s escapades over with, horses washed and plaited, tack cleaned, everybody was ready for the championships.
Sunday morning brings on slight turmoil when it transpires poor Lily was going to have to hack to Hartpury as her sister had found out at 7a.m that morning that she was supposed to be playing polo and needed her dad to take pony and trailer to the match! That and the fact that the team manager had kept Mrs. Witchell up til the wee hours of Sunday morning after a ball for the tennis club!!! Poor Lily, what else could I do but offer my services and transport Witchells junior and senior and Apache to Hartpury. Despite out best efforts we were just too late to watch Julia ride but we knew from the video we watched that Sam had taken, Julia and Tuppence were none the worse for their attack and had ridden a lovely test. Julia scored 75.42% and actually came 1st in her arena in the Prelim test.
Next to ride was Lily and Apache, again, another stunning test, Novice this time. Lily scored an amazing 63.85% and although, being the perfectionist she is Lily was a little disappointed with her score she still was placed a very credible 4th in her arena.
Fran came next, looking very pale and slightly nervous, I’m sure remembering that the last time Maloney had done dressage at Hartpury with one of our seniors, it was in fact speed dressage! However, no need to worry, Maloney and Fran were on form and scored a fabulous 72.92 %.
Lastly we had Victoria on Aero, riding the Novice test. They performed another lovely test for the team and then that was it…. The wait was on for the end results……..
We knew we were in the running to be placed probably first or second – we really needed Victoria to be placed first in her arena for the Championships.
Victoria’s score went up – 71.54% – 6 or seven scores left to go, all the team are still around, Kathy and Karen, Kate and Ellie, Leah and I are all there, trying to wait patiently. Finally, all the results are up and Frampton have done it. Victoria had come first in her arena so we had two firsts, a second and a fourth, Frampton are National Dressage Champions. They have competed against the crème de la crème in the U.K. Junior Riding Club Teams and have beaten them all. What an achievement.
I have to say that once again our team excelled, both in their general attitude, turn out, riding and team spirit – even in the lap of honour our girls rode beautifully, four horses side by side, stride for stride and looked stunning in their rosettes, sashes, and winners rugs while the rest of the teams mish mashed behind.
Big thanks must go to Kathy OIiver who had been able to turn up that day to watch some of the girls compete – Kathy has taught all of the team members over the past hundreds of years and the British Riding Club Chairman’s wife actually commented “how nice that one of our European Great Britain team members, a riding club member, has passed on her skills”, a story that BRC can be proud of!
I’m led to believe that three of the team will be seniors next year so we have high hopes for the senior teams. Plans are afoot to start training the juniors now for next year so any aspiring junior team members who would like to have a go at team dressage watch this space….
Well done Julia, Lily, Fran and Victoria, you are all a credit to the club and to your trainer.

A
brilliant day with all competitors and supporters helping each other, especially
where Sidney (Vicious) Bay was concerned when he went nuts
after being cruelly separated from his ‘special’ friend while she did
her stuff for all of 20 minutes!
Well
done everyone!
What a fab (if long) day!!
SENIOR
INDOOR AREA DRESSAGE QUALIFIER - 12th Feb. Hartpury
Coming so early in the
year, this competition was very difficult to prepare for as the weather
stopped any one without an indoor school from riding during December!
We did manage one training session in the actual main arena at
Hartpury, which I booked for my benefit and then broke down half a mile into
my journey, so had to turn back. Poor
Sid was baffled, all dressed up and nowhere to go!
The plan was to give the horses time to be in that vast space and be
able to work through any spooks. Everyone
had a great session with Kathy Oliver teaching and me ................ poo
picking!
With several more training
sessions under our belt, we had two teams ready to represent the Club at
this qualifier. Team Snowdrops,
consisting of Paula Newman with Bailey and me with Sid doing the prelim test
and Linda Lovell with Crunchie and Caroline Savory with Pepper doing the
Novice test and team Bluebells, made up of Sam Hall with Landy and Sarah
Donnelly with Craig doing the prelim and Ellie Luffman with Velvet and Sarah
Witchell with Maloney doing novice.
The Snowdrops were the more
experienced team as all members are out competing regularly while the
Bluebells was made up of two first timers,
one brand new baby senior and one new combination.
And what do you think happened? Yep,
the Bluebells beat the Snowdrops!
Paula and I were the first
on for Frampton, at 9.00 a.m., very early in the running order of the day
which is not ideal but both did pleasing tests.
Next on were Sam and Sarah D, both very nervous and as they rode down
to the main arena holding hands, they looked like they were going into the
Gladiator’s pit!
Both did lovely tests!
For Sam this was a huge achievement, she had struggled big time with
canter right and had spent almost a year’s wages over the last fortnight
trying to sort it, so when they were approaching right canter, we were all
in the gallery, willing them go get it right, and they did!
This was Sam’s first competition in about 20 years and with Landy,
they had a terrific score (and FFRC team best) of 77%!
The rest of us Prelim test riders scored 65% and 66%.
The afternoon was for the
Novice test riders and competition is hot hot hot!
For this level, horses are allowed up to 129 British Dressage points,
so there are some serious dressage divas there.
Our girls were right at the end of the day (one extreme to the
other!). First in were Ellie and
Sarah W. This was Ellie’s
first senior competition and Sarah’s first with Maloney.
Both judges rang their start bells at the same and both riders
entered their arenas at A. We
were all in the gallery watching, the arena was quiet.
You get the picture? This was so serious!
Trying to watch two
simultaneous tests is very difficult and in this case, quite confusing as
for a moment we thought Sarah must have missed a couple of movement as
although they started at the same time, she was way ahead of Ellie.
This was because Maloney was having the time of his life.
He was romping through the test, ears pricked, at top speed, with
Sarah at his mercy, it was so funny. By
the end, Sarah was struggling not to laugh, what a monkey he was.
Ellie’s test on the other hand, was elegant, controlled and
beautiful!
Lastly, by now we’re
close to 5.30pm, came Caroline and Linda.
Again, both started at the same time but again, two totally
contrasting tests! Crunchie
worked herself up into a steaming ball of fire, poor Linda struggled to keep
her sane while Pepper did a truly beautiful test which was a joy to watch.
He was calm, attentive and relaxed.
His whole test flowed, it was lush.
So lush that he claimed individual 6th, a fantastic
achievement when you think of the competition and that this horse hadn’t
set foot into a dressage arena until a couple of years ago!
Caroline was our highest
achiever coming 6th, the
rest of us were all around 14th, 15th and 16th,
Sam had the highest % score and the two naughty horses being the drop score,
but hey, someone has to be drop
score, so it might as well be worth dropping!
Team Snowdrops ended in 14th
place and team Bluebells in 17th out of 35 teams.
We had such fun and enthusiasm preparing for this competition it all
felt a bit flat once it was done. Well
done to Ellie, surviving with all us old bags, she’s found out loads about
body noises of the older woman courtesy mainly of Sam ‘The flapper’
Hall, who described some very alarming features going on through her test
which luckily didn’t upset Landy! Well
done girls! Keep doing the
pelvic floor exercises!

This just about says it all! - at the Senior Area Dressage on 12th February 2011
How sweet! Sam Hall and Sarah Donnelley, off at sunrise to throw themselves into the gladiatorial pit (otherwise known as Dressage) to sacrifice themselves in the name of FFRC. They defo got the thumbs up after their tests...some of the others were less fortunate!!!

###
23rd January 2011
Well Sunday 23rd January saw a few new "first achievements" for various junior members of Frampton Family Riding Club.
The first of the day I think was for Leah Glover, who, when plaiting Bukhara (Burt) in preparation for the area dressage competition, watched him pull back against his lead rope and not snap the baler twine he was tied up to but instead pull out a 12 foot rail from the fence and then prance around the yard with said rail hanging from his lead rope banging about his legs, intact with 6 inch nails sticking out.
The second first, I think, was for Kirsty Camm's new horse Arkansas Now (Roly) who, when tied up to the side of the lorry at the area competition, pulled back, snapped his baler twine and stormed about the lorry park for a little attention seeking demonstration. As this was not enough poor Kirsty then did a fantastic audition for Giffords circus with some trick riding when Roly did some very spectacular "testing" movements in the warm up arena.
There were plenty more firsts with, for example, Josie and Sadie Kent and Holly Tarplee all competing in the area dressage competition for their first time and Ellie Merrett on her new horse Ballysocks, competing for the first time. Oh and not forgetting the first time for the new team manager to have an outing with her teams (only slightly hungover from the previous night's Hunt Dinner Dance), and perhaps the first time a team manager has driven home with competitors numbers in her lorry!!
More significant firsts came via the Frampton Passage Team consisting of Lily Witchell and Spot On, Victoria Withers and Aerostar, both riding the Novice test and Fran Pearce with Brendonhill Fiction and Julia Hall with Lakestreet Tuppence both doing the prelim test when they won the competition outright, beating clubs such as Isis, Evenlode, West Oxford, Swindon, Cropthorne and Evesham Vale, not forgetting our own Frampton teams as well.
Hot on their heels were the Frampton Piaffes - Bea Burnham on Jelinka, Sadie Kent on Sockburn Fitzroy both doing the novice test, and Josie Kent on MorriganJago and Victoria Withers riding Cloughbrack Dreamer both doing the prelim test. This team had some cracking results and came second.
As if that was not enough excitement for one day Frampton Pirouettes consisting of Kirsty Camm and Arkansas Now, Holly Tarplee on Twywood Geordie Boy both doing novice and Leah Glover with Bukhara and Ellie Merrett with Ballysocks doing the prelim taking the 5th place.
FFRC also had some amazing individual results ...
In the prelim 12 warm up class - Ellie was 2nd, Victoria 3rd, Julia 4th and Fran 6th.
Individually in the team competitions - Fran was 1st, Josie 3rd, Julia 4th and Victoria 5th (all prelim) and Kirsty (even after all her stunt riding) came 2nd, Bea 3rd, Lily 5th and Victoria 6th all in the novice class
The standard of turn out and behaviour from all our members was impeccable and the level of riding was superb. Thanks to all for taking part and doing so well. However, special thanks must be given to Kathy Oliver for her hours of training the teams and also to our team manager for her putting up with us all traipsing to her house on a saturday morning. We could not have acheived this level of success without the dedication and commitment from all involved, parents (and assistant team manager) included!!!

18 Indoor Showjumping Area Qualifier Nov 7th 2010
I
know this was quite a while ago, but what with a new job, flu, snow & ice
and Christmas I’ve only just got round to writing this, apologies for the
delay!
We
travelled to Bromyard for the qualifier early November. It seemed a long long
way to go! The team consisted of Paula Newman & Bailey, Linda Lovell &
Crunchie, Caroline Savory & Pepper and Myself & ‘Menco.
On
arrival, Davinia made sure all our entries were correct & generally acted as
Team Manager/general dogsbody throughout the day, she did a great job! The order
of jumping was: Caroline, Paula, Me then Linda.
We
all warmed up in plenty of time for the first round. Caroline did a lovely round
but just had a very unlucky 4 faults on a very awkward related distance, not 4
strides or 5 but somewhere in between. Bailey was really keen and whizzed round
giving everything about a foot and did a lovely clear. I had a disaster. Fence 1
to 3, no problems, fence 4 however, Hmmmm! This was a shiny red wall that just
caught the reflection of the sun. Menco
cantered right up to it as if to jump & then stopped dead! I apparently did
a very graceful slow motion dismount to her off side, ended up standing on the
floor by her head thinking “how did I get here?” Of course this meant I was
eliminated from the first round as officially this was counted as a “fall”.
Linda followed me, Crunchie showed Menco how it should be done and did a
beautiful clear, so our team score for the first round was four faults.
There
was quite a gap to the second round so we untacked our horses, gave them hay and
a drink and congregated at Paula’s lorry for bacon sarnies and cake, very nice
it was too!
And
so to the second round, the course had been changed and the height increased but
the awkward related distance was still in there, so was that wall, but now as
jump 7, just before the chess knight double.
We
discussed strategy, Linda & Paula both agreed they were just going to go for
it as both Bailey & Crunchie were jumping well but fast! I just wanted to
get round without falling off!!
Caroline
went in first, did a beautiful clear, held Pepper back a bit so he got 5 strides
in the awkward related distance, no probs! Paula was in next, very very fast and
almost clear, Bailey took a stride out at one of the related distances and just
tipped a pole. Now my turn again! Fences 1 to 6 fine, no probs, then the wall,
do you know, Menco tried to stop again, we were virtually at a walk, so I did my
usual in times of stress, forgot to use my legs & just shouted “jump it”
at her, and she did but I was unbalanced and after a tight turn to the chess
knight double, we took the back pole of the first component and almost ran out
of the 2nd . We then proceeded to jump the rest of the course clear
for a total of 4 faults. So as a team we were on 8 faults. Linda, last in for
us, showed us all how to do it, Crunchie went round like a train, very quick,
very sharp, on the shortest possible track and clear, brilliant! Team total
after 2 rounds, 8 faults.
At
this point there were two teams on 8 faults and just one clear, we were about ¾
through and two teams to qualify for the Nationals so we had to wait in “just
in case” we had to jump off for second. Unfortunately about 4 from the end two
teams came in with 4 faults each so they jumped off. We were eventually placed 4th
as a team (the times from the second round were used to split 4th
& 5th).
Linda,
however, with her amazingly quick accurate clear second round WON the individual competition, FANTASTIC!
As
you can see from the photo below of Linda & the amazing Crunchie, the
individual rosette (the big red one) was far more impressive than the team 4th
(small green rosette crumpled in Linda’s hand).

OPEN HUNTER TRIAL – 3rd OCTOBER – MANOR
FARM.
Incredibly
this event did run, despite the awful weather that cancelled everything else
that was on that day! Once
again we had 3 courses of different heights plus the mini course.
Due to the weather quite a few competitors didn’t turn up, but those
who did, had a good day. Richard was
on hand with a huge tractor to help any stuck horse boxes, but the ground was
remarkably good!
Frampton
Members featured highly in the results, well done to you all!
Everyone
who helped deserves a big pat on the back, turning out to steward in that
weather shows true dedication! Sorry
to Penny Ferneyhough who came to commentate only to find that the chap who
supplies the equipment thought it might not be safe
because of fire risk in that rain?????
Haha – must remember that excuse!
We
also had a completely new batch of scorers who were dynamic!
Results were out really quickly, this being made possible by the mounted
score collectors who had great fun riding round despite the weather!
The
competition was half an hour late starting, due to the medics arriving late, but
Steve Harber rattled t hem through so we soon caught up. Everyone
was well fed by Sally Withers, the five cakes she made were FANTASTIC!!
So thank you everyone who helped for making it possible. Vouchers are on their way to anyone who did 4+ hours.
Class 1 - Mini
Senior
team report (from AGM)
We started the year
at Hartpury in February with the senior novice show jumping, our team did
well to carry no penalties forward to the second round with Linda Lovell
being placed 9th individually and the team finishing 4th.
One
week later, we were all back there again! This time for the senior dressage
qualifier! We had two teams
entered. The competition was
very close with one of our teams finishing 5th and Suzie Guilding
winning her arena. Our other
team did well also but weren’t placed on this occasion.
Next up was the
Eventer’s Challenge in March, this had been postponed due to the wet
weather so was the first outdoor outing for a lot of people.
Here we had one novice team and one open individual, although no one
was placed everyone completed the courses and were encouraged by their
performances.
One senior Novice
team, two Intermediate Individuals and one style jumping individual
represented Frampton at the outdoor show jumping qualifier held at Malvern
at the end of May. Our novice
team was unplaced, as was our individual in the style jumping, Holly and
Sheenagh Bragg were intermediate individuals and finished 2nd and
4th respectively.
The
Horse Trials qualifier was held at Broadway, Worcestershire in June.
A
novice team and an intermediate team were entered for this competition with
good results, our novice team consisted mainly of baby horses so everyone
was pleased with their results especially Jenny Guilding who was 3rd
individually finishing on her dressage score.
The intermediate team won their class with Holly and Sheenagh both
topping their arenas. Sheenagh
was also placed 1st individual overall.
This result earned the intermediate team of Holly and Sheenagh Bragg,
Holly Bevan and Sarah Watkins a place at the championships at Aston Le Walls
in August, this was rather eventful with a couple of our team members not
finishing the event but Sarah Watkins was 8th in her arena which
was an excellent result from a very high standard event.
The
Novice Team Dressage and Riding Test qualifier was held at Longney at the
end of June. We had the same team in both competitions, in the novice
dressage the team was placed 8th with a host of individual placings.
In the riding test the team were 2nd and again a host of
individual placings. The team of Caroline Savory, Katie Midgley, Linda
Lovell and Sarah Witchell went to the championships in
Mid July saw the Open Dressage at
I would like to thank all the senior members who
have taken part in team qualifiers this year, everyone has worked really
hard, travelled long distances in some cases and presented themselves and
their horses to a high standard, it hasn’t been easy this year with high
fuel costs and ever increasing entry fees, so thank you to all for your
efforts.
